Supporting an Open Research Ecosystem

EBSCO Information Services’ Christopher Spalding, Vice President Research Workflow Solutions, and Tamir Borensztajn, Vice President SaaS Strategy wrote about the difficulties and importance of supporting open research for UKSG’s (United Kingdom Serials Group) online eNews publication #464.

The solution… lies in the provisioning of open platforms and endpoints that support the creation and sharing of research for our researchers while, simultaneously, granting the institution stewardship over the complete research output — the data, computational code and methods.

The article explains why EBSCO has taken additional steps to support open science by partnering with Code Ocean, protocols.io and Arkivum to help advance open research saying “The solution… lies in the provisioning of open platforms and endpoints that support the creation and sharing of research for our researchers while, simultaneously, granting the institution stewardship over the complete research output — the data, computational code and methods.” Through these partnerships, EBSCO plans to further support an open research ecosystem for the creation, dissemination, discovery and preservation of scientific knowledge.
